Our services

Two services.

Most clients take both — the export document to enable deregistration and the BPM refund, and the white export plates with 14-day insurance to drive the car directly to its destination.

Additional service

BPM refund on export

Dutch-registered cars may, under conditions, qualify for a partial refund of the BPM paid at registration. We handle the full procedure for a fixed fee.

BPM refund

On vehicles where BPM is still owed, you may be eligible to reclaim the remaining BPM amount. We handle the correct calculation and the full declaration to the Belastingdienst. It can take several months before the remaining BPM amount is refunded.

Eligibility conditions

  • The vehicle was first registered in the Netherlands on or after 16 October 2006
  • It is not a damaged vehicle
  • It is registered with 'Export' status at the RDW
  • The vehicle is permanently registered in another EU member state or in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, and is taken to that country of registration
  • Documents show the vehicle was registered in the destination country within 13 weeks of receiving RDW export status

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the kentekenbewijs deel 2?

The kentekenbewijs deel 2 (also called uitvoerverklaring, or export declaration) is the official document confirming your vehicle has been deregistered from the Dutch vehicle register. You need it to register the car abroad.

How long can I drive with export plates?

With the white export plates and the 14-day insurance you may drive for a maximum of 14 days, provided the APK (MOT) is still valid. The exact end date is shown on the kentekenbewijs deel 2.

Can I get a BPM refund on export to Switzerland or the US?

No. BPM refund is only possible when the car is permanently registered in an EU member state, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. For exports to Switzerland, the UK, the US or other non-EER destinations the right to a refund lapses.

What do I need to have my car exported?

We need your Dutch kentekencard with the tenaamstellingscode (or the paper kentekenbewijs deel I and II), valid ID and the original Dutch number plates. If you're already abroad you can post these to us.

How long does the whole process take?

We typically complete the RDW deregistration and the export document within one working day. DHL Express delivery within or outside the Netherlands then takes 1-3 working days, depending on the destination.
